Celebrating Life

Yesterday I attended the wake of another person who I knew from the Boy Scouts. She had passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. She had lived life with gusto.

When I attended her wake, it quickly became apparent that this was a celebration of a life well lived. No apologies. She had a clear vision of what was needed and what she was willing to do.

She was very involved with the Scouts, taking troops to Sea Base and summer camp. She was actively involved with other youth organizations like Girl Scouts.

There was an outpouring of people coming to say their last goodbyes. The Girl Scouts recited a poem for us on her passing.

The Scouts sang Vespers to her for one last time to send her off. It was obvious that she enjoyed life and everyone around her will miss her.

She had a clear vision and lived it right up until she died. She loved life and those around her. She will be sadly missed.

It has me reflecting upon my life. Will people say I lived life with gusto and that my life was significant to those around me?

As I re-examine my vision for the future, I ask myself which Scrooge am I going to be. Is it the one who hides in an office counting his money or the one who is out in the world sharing his blessing.

What is your vision for your future. Are you transitioning from the earning phase of your life to the returning, giving back to those around you?

Last, remember life is for living and enjoying, you can’t save it up for some other time, because you don’t know what the future will bring.

If you think about these changes, you will find that you may really enjoy retirement. I am here to help you live life with gusto and to help you to keep pushing forward with your plans on enjoying life.
