Proverbs 16:3 “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans” is an inspiring reminder for retirees that planning with God's purpose brings lasting value, no matter the life stage.
Many see retirement as a time to stop making plans, but scripture encourages us to continue with purpose. This is a call to keep us living intentionally, with a God centered life. That it is never too late to commit your plans to the Lord and see them established.

Lets break this down into its parts. “Commit to the Lord” means surrendering to God everything, intentions, goals, and dreams to God’s will. The next phrase is “Whatever you do” says all activities, always. Notice there is not a start and stop date.
There is no age listed when this no longer applies. “He will establish your plans” Gods says I will help guide you and direct you in doing things that align with my plans and purposes.
Why is retirement the perfect time for purposeful planning? It’s because you now have time, you have acquired a life time of wisdom and have a perspective that takes many points of view.
The secular world would have you believe it is time to withdraw from the issues around life. But this passage says God wants your continued involvement in life. You are still writing about your life and creating your legacy.
Doing it with purpose can shape generations to come. Let’s put this into action, pray over your time and resources and explore what your passions are. Invite God into the process and help guide your thoughts.
Pursuing activities such as volunteering, mentoring, teaching, or creating. Invest in things that matter. I do not mean stocks and bonds or financial things, but relationships, family, community and spiritual circles.
This can be a launch pad for second call ministries and missions. Your plans could ripple into eternity when they align with Gods plans. He blesses intentionality and surrender.
What are you going to invest in now? Is it wisdom shared? How about touching other peoples lives? Will you model faith? These are all items that will outlive you.
Proverbs 16:3 give a retiree permission and encouragement to dream again with God. Your best plans lay ahead if they are God directed. Invite him into your future and watch Him establish lasting impact on those around you.
“The world may say you’re winding down—God says you’re just getting started.”
