This is a membership Morsel from “Too Young to Retire”. Today, we are continuing to talk about what Purpose is and how people struggle to find it.

Imagine you wake up in the morning and you decided that you are going to go gem hunting. You know of a stream where there is supposed to be garnets, a semi-precious gem. You excitedly get dressed and have breakfast, then, after getting some bottles of water and packing a lunch, you head to the stream.
You get there and start walking the stream bed. There are lots of stones piled along the sides and in the bed of that shallow creek. You start wondering what does a garnet look like in the wild? Would you even recognize it even if you came upon one? After a day wandering the stream bed you come away discouraged and head home.
This story is how most people look for purpose in their life. They are sure they will recognize it when they stumble across it and are frustrated when they don’t seem to find the answer they are looking for.

Purpose is not what you do or find, but rather who you are. Once you understand your purpose it guides you in every other decision you make about your future. You want to strive to be an On-Purpose (see Kevin W. McCarthy) person, with an integrated life, not the modern balanced life approach.
In a life balance approach, you have each area competing for time, energy, and resources. In an integrated life approach all areas are part of each other and what you do and believe. You blend family, financial, work, wellness and community into your whole life and each area of it so it is a meaningful expression of your purpose.
By being part of the 2 Young 2 Retire you will learn how others are understanding their purpose and life and what these strategies are.
There are so many things you will learn that you should never run out of options. Sign up for our classes, join in the discussion and become part of our community about life after working at www.patterson2y2r.com
