This is a membership Morsel from “Too Young to Retire”. Today, we are continuing to talk about Community and what it is like to be part of one.
You’re standing on the raised tee box looking down the fairway, a bunker180 yards down on the right, trees on the left and right, while the green is 390 yards down the fairway. It looks nasty, there are four sand traps guarding the approach. You know if you slice or hook you could be in real trouble since there is deep grass and brush among the trees. It’s your turn to tee off - What do you do?
You don’t have to be an Arnold Palmer or Tiger Woods to play golf and enjoy it. You just have to be willing to try and keep your eye on the ball after you hit it. Retirement is the same way. You don’t have to be a financial expert, you don’t have to cut out what you are doing, quit all your clubs, sell off all you own, and live like a hermit.
It’s time to reconnect with your purpose in life, explore what you want to do or be. It’s time to break out from your mind’s ruts and find communities that you resonate with.
Golf can be a solitary sporting event or a social event. When you golf with a group you and have comradery, when your ball goes in the rough, everyone helps you find it. When you hit it down the fairway everyone cheers you. Life can be like that if you are willing to invest the time in friends and new activities.
Be authentical to who you are, be active and stay young. By being part of the 2 Young 2 Retire you will learn what other people are doing in this area, gain friends, and practice your skills.
There are so many things you will learn that you should never run out of options. Sign up for our classes, join in the discussion and become part of our community about life after working at www.patterson2y2r.com
