Whats your Elevator Speech

Being a retired contractor, manufacturer (malting) and currently a business Professor I bring a unique perspective toward retirement and living life to its fullest. After you have transitioned from your career to retirement do you ever wonder if your life was significant to those around you?

How about before you retired? If you died tomorrow, would anyone in the world notice that you were alive and had dreams, goals or wondered if you had strived in any way to make the world a better place?

When you are planning on transitioning from the rat race (earning phase) to retirement (the returning phase), you may feel that there is more to life than just making money. It’s time to do something that most businesses have in their business plan.

Write a vision statement, mission statement, and an elevator speech about your future. You should have at the top of your head what, where and when you and your spouse will the last third of your life and where you want to make an impact.

You don’t need to commit 40 hours a week, but you need a feeling of where you want to go and at least an outline of how you want to get there. This is not locked in stone, if something in your life changes then revise the plan.

You wouldn’t go on a cruise without knowing the agenda and deciding on which sights you want to see and can afford. Why would you approach retirement any differently?

Make the returning phase of your life as successful as the earning phase. Make your life significant. There is still time to obtain significance in areas you love.

If you think about this approach, you will find that you will really enjoy retirement. I am here to help coach you on living life with gusto and to help you to keep moving forward with your plans on enjoying life.
