A Life Well Lived

It has been a tough week. I have been struggling for time between putting class plans together for four classes, two of which I have never taught. And two funerals.

The first was the mother of my daughter-in-law who we really didn’t know well but she was the same age as my spouse and myself. The second was a friend who was a year younger than us.

He was a joyful person who put family first and was actively involved in taking care of his grandchildren.

He was actively involved in the model train society in our area and often would wear a train conductors uniform and help with train rides for children during the holidays. Especially when they had Santa or Thomas the Engine come to town.

It got me thinking what is a good life, and I believe it is a life lived that balanced enjoying life to the fullest, spreading love to your family and friends, and having a passion for something that you identify with and enjoy doing.

Do you have to have a major plaque, statue or some other thing telling people what a great person you were. It would be nice but it’s not necessary.

Why am I writing this, it’s because I have a third person, a cousin who I was told that he had only days to live. My mother always said things come in threes. This would be the third person I know who will pass away in a week and a half.

He is of my brothers age who passed away last year and makes me ponder. Us baby boomer are starting to pass on and I wonder have we lived the good life. Let me know what you think.

I believe it comes down to if you have made a difference for the better in the lives of those around you, whether its family, friends and passionately pursued a common good.

If you have struggled with this question and others then go to Patterson2Y2R,com/blog should be a place you should visit to share your stories and challenges.

I have an ear that would love to hear your stories. Let’s taste the real meaning of life. I am still working on my course with the goal of launching a starter course, and I will keep you abreast as to how the process goes.
