I am finishing up on my discussion on the Covey and Haller book “Live Life in Crescendo.” With this post. It was a fun book to read and I loved how he mixed stories, thoughts, philosophy and suggestions about making the most of your third stage of life.
His theme is, “Life is a mission, not a career.” He felt you are charged with finding that mission and then giving it away. If you are always giving it away, you will never run out of future purpose.
He said it in a lot more words and if he had to state it in one or two sentences, he probably would have stated it more elegantly.
His whole point was summed up in 9 Key principles
Life is a mission, not a career.
Love to serve.
People are more important than things.
Leadership is communicating worth and potential.
Work to expand your circle of influence.
Choose to live in Crescendo, not Diminuendo.
Transition from work to contribution.
Create meaningful memories.
Detect your purpose.
He firmly believed that you can always do something. If its not large than do something small, and do something every day.
He lived his life in Crescendo. Can you say the same? The third phase of life, the returning phase is your chance to seize that opportunity.
Are you a symbol of hope and inspiration to those around you? Do you wonder what you can give to help those who follow you?
If you have struggled with these questions and issues then Patterson2Y2R should be a place you should visit. Share your stories and challenges.
I have an ear that would love to hear your stories. Let’s live life like a symphony with all the Crescendo's and Diminuendo's that life throws at us.
I am still working on my course with a goal of launching a starter course by June 30th, and I will keep you abreast as to how the process goes. If you want to participate in this process and join my first class please send me an email to www.bobchuckpatterson@yahoo.com
