Follow the Money

Tell me how you budget your money and schedule your time and I can predict what your life will look like 10 years from now. This is a big theme of Napoleon hills philosophy and he asks in his teachings that you examine the beliefs and life that you are living on a regular basis.

He wants you to make the most of your gift and talents to in the short time that you have on this earth. How do you go about this? I suggest a person must first make a inventory of your personal values.

Then with these in hand develop a vision of the future that incorporates your values, and develop a mission statement of where you want to go. This isn’t some thing that is a once and done but a living document that you should revisit every year and revise so that it reflects your current circumstances.

Every step you take should move you toward becoming the person you want to become. Is this a straight path you might ask, and the answer would be no. It’s a winding path with many jogs and turns, stops and starts and more than likely will be a lifelong journey.

Where it is taking you is to a place where you can find fulfillment and peace. How do I do this, you ask. I have a worksheet on finding what values you hold dear, then creating a vision based on those values.

From this you can then develop a mission statement on what you want to do. I started this blog on how you spend your money because you already are living by a set of values that you have probably unconsciously following.

As the saying goes, follow the money for the answer. Socrates is credited with saying that the unexamined life is a life not worth living. Have you examined your life?
