Thankfulness

We are entering a week where I am thanking the Lord for all he has done for me. As I look back on the past year and my life I realize I have so much to be thankful for. How about yourself?

When you are older than 65ish, it seems you hear about some of your friends and relatives who have spent their life preparing for retirement and now find they are struggling with something which prevents them from enjoying this part of their life. They can’t walk, they develop Alzheimer’s, or are being treated for cancer and can’t travel or worse yet they died.

Health wise I have had my issues but nothing that has impacted my ability or my significant other’s ability to travel, enjoy our grandchildren, and have what I consider a great quality of life.

Are we filthy rich, hardly, but we don’t let that deter us from doing things like we do. We just have to be more careful in doing them. We have a lot of good friends, and we make it a priority to do things with them. Maybe it’s a bus trip to Skaneateles, or join a group of friends at a 50th college reunion.

I still have a roof over my head, food on my table, and a place to live. Our children and grandchildren are doing good, life is good and we have a lot to be thankful for. I hope that it is the same for you and your family.

I hope you have a gratitude journal and keep track of all your blessings. Once you get into creating it you will find you have more blessings than you even realized you had. Praise God and pass the gravy this Thanksgiving and enjoy the holiday.
