I heard an interesting thought from Ben Windle with Glorify about purpose. He starts out talking about a survey that was posted to a large group of readers.
The question was “If you could ask God one question what it would be?” He said the most common response was, what is my purpose in Life?”
I found that interesting since I have always promoted the idea that a person must have a purpose that you are working towards to be happy. He said it appears that all the people who responded wanted to know that their days on earth mattered and they had something to contribute.
He pivoted at this point and said that when the voyager was passing Uranus that mission control had the space craft turns its camera back toward earth and take a picture of earth.
He said that in the blackness of space earth appeared as a little blue dot. It got him thinking that maybe we are all asking the wrong question. The universe and earth have existed a lot longer that man has existed.
Maybe we should be asking Is what purpose does God have for this blue dot, and then asking ourselves what part do we play in the grand scheme of things.
It’s an interesting thought but it still comes back to the question of what our purpose is and how do we fulfil that purpose. Something to ponder on in the future.
I will see you all next week. If you have struggled with this question and others then go to Patterson2Y2R,com/blog should be a place you should visit to share your stories and challenges.
I have an ear that would love to hear your stories. Let’s taste the real meaning of life. I am still working on my course with the goal of launching a starter course, and I will keep you abreast as to how the process goes.
