The time leading up to the operation, which was on a Wednesday morning I tried to get done all the things I wanted to do before the operation and I was fairly successful at it. 10 days before I stopped taking blood thinners.
The Day before I had to be good about what I ate and drank and followed the diet he asked. Operation time was moved up twice originally it was supposed to be 11:30 AM, then it was moved up to 10:30 AM then it was moved up to 9:30am.

I didn't mind that because I just wanted to get it over with sooner than later. I remember going into the surgery center and stripping down and putting on the gown.
They came in and did a bunch of pre operation testing blood pressure and all the normal pre-operation checks, they gave me a couple shots and then had me wait to be taken into the surgical center.
It was probably no more than about 10 minutes before I was in the surgery center and I remember them prepping me. They hooked me up to an IV then gave me what I think it was anesthesia.
And that's the last I remember till about 11:30 when I woke up, the operation was done and I was in the recovery. When I started feeling less out of it, so to speak, they had me sit up and then try walking down the hall.
I did that, then I had to walk up a flight of three steps and then back down the flight of three steps. The surgeon stopped by to see how I was doing. It was then that they told me that I could be discharged and head home.
Mary Kay went to get the car while one of the aides got a wheelchair. They wheeled me out to the car and had me stand up and then get into the car. It was very easy getting into the car, I am guessing because I was still on the pain block.
My son Adam and our pastor were called and told that I was coming home. At the house the car was park by the front door and the two of them helped me into the house.
One walked in front of me and one behind me as I slowly walked in. I came into the house sat down in the recliner and then just napped the rest of the day with ice on my knee. I had dinner that night, slept some more before going to bed at 10:30pm. Mary Kay was amazed I was able to easily get into bed and sleep.
