Day 2 After The Operation

Thursday 8/21 I was up at 6:30 and prayed meditated before breakfast. I went through a bunch of emails and did a bunch of other little stuff like that on the computer that allowed me to stay seated.
The visiting nurses associate showed up, and I thought it was going to be a TP session. It was not, it was an intake visit, and she spent about an hour and a half going through everything.

I was able to show her the house; demonstrate I could get into and out of a chair and in and out of bed. When that was done, I took a nap for about 45 minutes and reviewed more emails.
Several hundred had come in while I was out of commission. I went through them then took another nap. I worked on a minor project which was John Kilian's grandmother’s cookbook for an hour before another nap.
I went into the family room using my walker and I sat in the recliner. I watched the wheel of fortune and Jeopardy then I went to bed early at 10:00pm exhausted. I probably was still on the pain block because it seemed I was not hurting as much as the last time I had the other knee done.
It is a real blessing. I had not taken any oxycontin today, so I was much more alert.
The first knee I had operated on I stayed overnight in the hospital and basically did nothing the following day.
I tried to write in my diary but could not concentrate enough to move the pen in a straight line. Probably because the hospital kept giving me pain pills.
I did get up and use the bathroom standing up since I refused to use that little bottle they gave me to pee in. There was no PT and I just laid in the bed till about 4:00pm when the wheelchair van arrived to take me over to the PT facility.
I am not sure why I was so much more awake and less groggy this second time around, but it sure seemed that way. I would recommend going home the next day, if you are having a knee replaced.
