Wednesday, September 3, 2025 – I started back up on the Tramadol and have been sleeping thru the night till 4am. Then I have to get up to pee then back to sleep till 6:30am.
Yesterday, at PT my trainer George asked me if I planned to take off from teaching while I am recovering from the knee operation. He appeared surprised when I said no, I have 4 classes I plan on teaching and that will start in two days.

I am doing the exercises he assigned to me twice a day and while I don’t feel tired, I find if I lay back in the recliner while icing my knee, I will fall asleep. That happened this morning even though I didn’t plan to sleep.
I woke up when Mary Kay got up. It hurts while I do the exercise but feels better after I stop. I find that if I use a cane, I can navigate most walking situations which really makes life easier on both Mary Kay and myself.
Thursday, September 4, 2025 – Thursday went well. I mostly rested and played on the computer. I went to choir, one of the choir members drove me there and back.
If our church didn’t have an elevator this would not have happened because the stairs would have been difficult to navigate. All was good.
Friday, September 5, 2025 - Today I went to Weight Watchers, Mary Kay drove me there. I didn’t stay for the program, just weight in. Afterwards we went out to breakfast.
Mary Kay wanted to go out for breakfast and take advantage of a breakfast special Dennys restaurants has. Since we were out, we went to Walmart, and then to BJ’s for Gas. I was exhausted by the time we were home 12:15pm.
Our grand-puppy Daisy had been great while we were out. I rested till 12:35pm then Mary Kay drove me to the knee Doctor. He was really happy with where I am at and gave me the OK to drive.
Home by 2, napped till 2:30pm now I am starting my day. I feel like I did last time around 6 weeks. Its been 16 days since the operation, last time I was just leaving the rehabilitation facility and struggling to walk let alone drive.
Sunday, September 7, 2025 – I drove for the first time, and it went well. I didn’t have to use my left foot on the gas pedal or brake. I drove Mary Kay & myself to church and was able to walk using only a cane.
I had already decided I was not going to use a walker. My knee feels good for the most part, it still acks but I am not struggling with noticeable pain. I drove the Highlander which is an automatic.
I am sleeping poorly because I stopped taking the Tramadol and I cannot get comfortable with my knee in bed. I cannot find a good position that does not bother me it seems.
Tuesday, September 9th, 2025 – Today I drove my Z3 for the first time which has a clutch – all went well. At PT my knee was measured 111 degrees up from 86 a week and a half ago. I am trying to not use a cane but still find it useful at times.
I am still tired, but I am not struggling with any significant pain. I am resting up, classes start tomorrow, and I must walk a significant distance. Happily, I have a handicap tag so I will park at one of the handicap spots.
You would think because it is a handicap spot it would be close, not so. It is downtown and there is still a significant amount of walking. I worked on classes which allowed me to sit. I would work two hours, then nap an hour. This was repeated all day.
