Start of a new year

Welcome to the new year. When you make resolutions, pick fresh goals one of the best ways to make those goals meaningful is to align them with your natural styles. This way you are more likely to maintain them and keep them.

I like to use the DISC style since it is easy to understand and follow.

·         The first is Dominance (D):  You are a Direct, results-focused, and decisive, person driven by challenges and achieving quick outcomes.

You need to focus on slowing down, listening more, and practicing patience. Easier said than done. You could also add empathy to your natural drive which could strengthen relationships and improve decision making.

·         Maybe you’re an Influencer (I): That means you are outgoing, enthusiastic, and persuasive, motivated by relationships and social recognition.

Your resolution needs to lean into connection by becoming an even better listener. Ask more questions, engaging deeply, and building stronger trust with those around you.

·         What if you are you Steadiness (S): By definition you are normally thought to be Calm, dependable, and supportive, valuing cooperation, stability, and consistency.

So you should embrace change and remember to prioritize your own well-being. You need to step outside your comfort zone while also setting boundaries and caring for yourself.

·         Last what if you are a Conscientiousness (C): You would be analytical, detail-oriented, and precise, focused on accuracy, quality, and rules.

Your resolution should embrace releasing perfectionism and focus on progress over “perfect.” Allow room for learning, creativity, and growth without unnecessary pressure.

No matter what your DISC style is the new year is the perfect time to reflect, reset, and set intentional goals that help you thrive personally and professionally.

You might ask what are my goals. I am thinking of joining SCORE with the small business administration. I belonged to it many years ago before I created a malting firm.

I found it rewarding and it will give me a good platform to use my business expertise to help other people. I will have to practice listening shills to hear what each person truly needs from me rather than lecturing like I do in my classes.

Good luck picking a resolution that fits with your style and stay motivated and grow. My hope is that these posts have been both thought-provoking and practical, equipping you to shape a retirement filled with security, purpose, and joy.

After all, the final chapter can be the most rewarding—if you write it with intention
